To take its alternative model of development to people to ‘maha padayatra’

August 19, 2016 08:05 am | Updated 08:05 am IST - HYDERABAD:

CPI(M) Telangana State plenum, on its final day on Thursday, resolved to draft an alternative model of development for the Telangana state aimed at inclusive progress on economic and social fronts, and to spread it among people through a ‘maha padayatra’ (state-wide tour on foot).

The ‘maha padayatra’, to be undertaken by the State committee under the leadership of State secretary Tammineni Veerabhadram, was expected to clock about 4,000 kilometres on foot for four months.

The nitty-gritty of the tour would be finalised at the State committee meeting in two weeks, Mr.Veerabhadram told a press conference here on Thursday.

The plenum also resolved to organise one-day State-wide protest on August 22 against the attacks on Dalits and minorities by cow protection vigilante teams, condemning the attacks, especially those near Una town of Gujarat, Dadri of Haryana, and Janakipet of East Godavari district in Andhra Pradesh.
