The CPI (M) has sought implementation of reservations in employment and promotions for SC/STs, BCs and minority categories in the private sector with the public sector getting shrunk by the day.
At a press conference here on Sunday, party district secretary Dandi Venkat felt that the government is deliberately distancing the oppressed and socially and economically disadvantaged sections from medical education by allowing private colleges to increase the fee.
He wanted the government to decide the fee structure in schools before the beginning of the academic year.
Demographic representation
Saying that there was no wrong even if reservations were decided in accordance to the demographic representation of communities, he said that many minority BC castes are lagging behind even after seven decades of Independence. To narrow the gaps in the society these communities should be provided with reservations in jobs and education in the private sector, he said.
Mr. Venkat said that the party has decided to celebrate Mahatma Jyotibha Pule and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar birth anniversaries in a big way. Unlike the past, the party is focusing on the caste, community and backwardness issues, he said. Party leaders A. Ramesh Babu, Noorjahan and Venkat Goud were also present.
