CPI (M) demands ‘full-time’ Collector for Jangaon

Leaders allege A. Devasena’s sudden transfer has brought various projects to a standstill

February 21, 2018 12:04 am | Updated 12:04 am IST - JANGAON DT.

CPI (M) district secretary M. Kanaka Reddy has accused the State government of neglecting the newly formed districts and pointed out that the sudden transfer of the District Collector A. Devasena last month has “seriously hampered the ongoing development works”.

Demanding the appointment of a full-time District Collector, CPI (M) leaders staged a demonstration outside the Collectorate on Tuesday.

“In the absence of a regular collector there is none to monitor the progress of development works. Being the district’s first Collector, Devasena made commendable efforts towards all-round development of Jangaon,” Mr. Reddy said.

CPI (M) leaders alleged that Ms. Devasena was transferred at the behest of ruling party leaders, particularly the local TRS MLA, and said progress of works related to key projects like double bedroom houses and Mission Bhagiratha had come to a standstill as in-charge Collector Anitha Ramachandran “was not able to dedicate enough time for monitoring the works”.
