The district administration in association with the Mind Care and Counselling Centre, Sircilla had launched a massive counselling programme for the distressed powerloom weavers on Monday.

Psychologist K Purnachander along with the cultural troupe members visited the weaver dominated Sundaraiahnagar and conducted a road-side counselling programme by enacting drama and songs.

The songs enlightened the weavers about the importance of facing hardships and leading life courageously.

Suicide no solution

Stating that suicide was not a solution to problem, they said that suicide would displace entire family and their children would become orphans. They also threw light on the various welfare schemes launched by the government for the welfare of weavers. They urged the distressed weavers to approach their counselling centre round the clock for redressal of any grievances.

They also gave telephone number 8801888805 and asked the weavers to call them any time if they were in distress and would want solutions for their problems.
