Constable, home guard injured in accident

A constable and a home guard were injured after the patrol vehicle in which they were travelling, was hit by a speeding lorry at Thallamada village in Sattupalli mandal in the wee hours of Wednesday.

The incident occurred when a police team was conducting night patrolling in a jeep at Thallamada in the small hours of the day.

Two members of the night patrol team - constable Omar and home guard Ashok sustained multiple fractures to their hands in the accident, sources said. The lorry sped away immediately after the accident. The injured personnel were rushed to the district headquarters hospital by their colleagues in a separate vehicle. The Sattupalli police registered a case and are investigating.
