Representatives of the Telangana Boggu Gani Karmika Sangham (TGBKS), the recognised trade union of the Singareni Collieries Company Limited affiliated to the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi, launched protests against the Congress and Telangana Joint Action Committee (TJAC) by setting on fire their effigies, in the Ramagundam coal belt region on Thursday.

After Hyderabad High Court ordered the cancellation of recruitment to the dependent employment scheme, the TGBKS leaders, led by K. Mallaiah, visited various mines and raised slogans against the Congress and TJAC leaders for obstructing the recruitment process.

‘Dark day’

“It is a dark day in the history of the SCCL. The dreams of securing employment for the children of coal miners have been shattered,” Mr. Mallaiah said, adding that the TRS government would take all measures to revive the scheme by approaching Supreme Court.
