The District Congress Committee (DCC) leaders burnt an effigy of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao protesting the arrest of their party leaders in Karimanagar.

A protest demonstration was held at the Congress Bhavan here on Monday led by DCC president Nayini Rajendar Reddy. He sought to know was it a crime to protest over cancellation of Thotapalli reservoir.

“Mr. Rao was adopting anti-democratic practices to silence the Opposition leaders. He has been acting like a monarch. He should realise that this is democracy where every citizen has a right to express their views. It is against the constitution to arrest the Congress party leaders, who were protesting peacefully in Karimangar,” he said.

Mr. Rajender Reddy said KCR had made many promises, but failed to keep even a single. People would protest his arrival in the district next time. And eager to teach a lesson to TRS in municipal and LS elections He was changing the designs and location of the projects as per his whims and fancies with least regard to the interests of people.
