Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy has charged the TRS government with rolling out red carpet welcome to big companies and grossly neglecting the plight of labourers, particularly in unorganised sector.
He was speaking at a meeting organised by the INTUC district unit at Sanjeeva Reddy Bhavan in connection with the Palair by-election campaign here on Thursday.
Anti-labour policies
Addressing the INTUC activists, Mr. Uttam Kumar alleged that the TRS government was pursuing anti-labour policies in contrast to its pre-poll promises to strive for the welfare of the working class.
The TRS government is trying to stifle the voice of the Opposition and trade unions in an autocratic manner, he charged, calling upon the trade union activists and the workers to teach a lesson to the ruling party in the May 16 bypoll to Palair seat.
Public Accounts Committee chairperson Dr. J. Geetha Reddy, Congress Legislature Party leader K Jana Reddy, Jagtial legislator T Jeevan Reddy and others spoke.
Congress playing spoilsport: KTR
Meanwhile, Minister for Information Technology K.T. Rama Rao has flayed the Congress party accusing it of colluding with the TDP and conspiring to stall the irrigation and drinking water projects in Telangana.
In an open letter to the voters of the bypoll bound Palair Assembly constituency, Mr Rama Rao called upon the electors to teach a lesson to the Congress and TDP for allegedly working against the interests of people of Telangana. Both the parties have joined hands to serve their narrow political interests undermining democratic values, he alleged, accusing the Congress leaders of writing letters to the Centre against sanction of funds to the Mission Bhageeratha, the upcoming mega drinking water project in Telangana.
