Holi was celebrated in a unique way at Hunsa village of Bodhan mandal bordering Maharashtra on Monday. The residents, who played with colours in the day, participated in a tug-of-war, wrestling, and the traditional fisticuff fight at the rachhabanda (village junction) in the evening.

The fisticuff lasted around 10 minutes. The young and the old alike took part in it. A large number of people from across the district and nearby areas of Maharashtra witnessed the annual event. The village was bustling with visitors throughout the day.

Police deployed

The local administration made arrangements for the celebrations and a strong posse of police force was deployed in the village as a precautionary measure. After the fisticuff, the participants exchanged pleasantries.

A progressive farmer, Manik, said the tradition has been practised in the village since time immemorial, and people believed that it brought them peace, health, and prosperity. No untoward incident ever took place during the celebrations, he added.
