Adilabad Collector Buddha Prakash M. Jyoti on Sunday launched the second phase of Pulse Polio Immunisation programme on Sunday at Jainad Primary Health Centre.
He said the society should be free of debilitating diseases like polio. He later visited the wards and inspected the facilities being provided to patients. He enquired with the medical officers about the treatment and medicine stock.
Staff Reporter adds: Irrigation Minister T. Harish Rao administered polio drops to children in Siddipet on Sunday as part of the Pulse Polio Immunisation programme. He called upon people to use the opportunity to protect their children from polio.
In Sangareddy, the programme was formally launched by District Medical and Health Officer Gayatri Devi.
Special Correspondent adds: Over 1.93 lakh children aged between 0 and 5 years were administered polio drops at 1,021 booths across the district on Sunday.
Special booths
A total of 255 booths in urban centres, 766 in rural areas, 18 transit and 36 mobile booths were set up for the purpose.
Special booths were arranged at bus stations, railway stations and at all important junctions. Collector Yogitha Rana and Mayor Akula Sujatha Srisailam participated in the programme at Government General Hospital. District Medical and Health Officer J. Venkati visited several booths to inspect the progress.
