A summer coaching camp in archery for boys and girls, organised by the District Archery Association, got under way at Sequel Resorts here on Monday. Khammam MLA P. Ajay Kumar inaugurated the camp.

Khammam Police Commissioner Tafseer Iqbal, archery association president S. Sarangapani, and others were also present. The free coaching camp would be held from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m. every day up to June 8.

In his inaugural address, Mr. Kumar assured to allocate suitable government land in the vicinity of the resort for the archery association.

Mr. Iqbal underlined the need for providing requisite infrastructural facilities to budding archery players to enable them excel in the traditional sport.

Selected for tourney

The organisers announced that four archers, who had undergone training conducted by the District Archery Association, have been selected for an archery tournament for tribal youth to be held in New Delhi from May 26 to 28.
