Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao said the government would offer a compensation of ₹12 lakh per acre and construct double bedroom houses for land oustees under Kondapochamma reservoir.

The Chief Minister held discussions with the land oustees of villages under the proposed reservoir on Friday. About a hundred residents from Mamidyala, Thanedarpally, Bailampur villages and Thanedarpally tanda were invited to his farm house by the district officials to discuss the matter with him.

According to sources, Mr. Rao informed the farmers that as their villages fall under the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) limits, they were being offered high compensation of ₹12 lakh per acre. He also said those losing houses under the project would be constructed double bedroom houses at Tunikibolaram near Mulugu where government land required for construction was available.

“The landless poor will be offered a compensation of ₹7.5 lakh and a major in every family will be offered an amount of ₹5.5 lakh. These villages will be adopted by me and development activities will be taken up like in the case of Erravalli and Narsannapet,” the Chief Minister told the farmers. He said each household would be given three cows and they would be given preference in government welfare schemes.

“Take an early and positive decision. The government will be with you and your support is required in completing the reservoir which will be instrumental in providing irrigation to a large chunk of land,” Mr. Rao reportedly told the land oustees.
