Civic authorities remove 40 huts

The authorities are also planning to bring down some 'illegal' apartments

November 20, 2014 11:38 pm | Updated 11:38 pm IST - NIZAMABAD:

The municipal corporation authorities amid tight police security removed illegal hutments in 6th and 15th divisions, spreading over Housing Board Colony in Vinayaknagar on Hyderabad road, and in Sanjeevaiah Nagar falling in 43rd division, on Thursday.

In all, they removed about 40 huts which have come up on the defunct Nizamsagar canal boundaries in the said areas.

There was a mild tension as hut dwellers resisted the operation alleging that the authorities embarked on removing their dwellings without serving prior notices. When they approached the Mayor Akula Sujatha, she left the spot leaving the matter to authorities.
