City students shine at international olympiads

Five awarded gold and silver medals

Five students made Hyderabad proud by garnering international rank in the Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF) Olympiad.

Aayush Ranjan of Class 4 from Chirec International School got silver medal and ₹25,000.

In National Cyber Olympiad Harshin Posina, a Class 5 student from Foster Billabong High International School was awarded gold medal and ₹50,000.

In International Sports Knowledge Olympiad, Spoorthi Challa of Class 4 from Academic Heights Public School bagged a silver medal and ₹25,000.

English Olympiad

In International English Olympiad, Kashif Rahiman Shaik of Class 5 from Foster Billabong High International School got gold medal and ₹50,000 and Esha Santosh of Class 7 from Chirec International School received silver medal and ₹25,000.

Scholarships for girls

Over 42800 schools from 1400 cities across 25 countries participated in the six SOF Olympiad exams during 2016-17 and around 45 lakh students appeared in the Olympiad.

SOF founder and director Mahabir Singh mentioned that an annual scholarship was reserved for 300 meritorious girl children from economically weaker section under the Girl Child Scholarship Scheme (GCSS) of the foundation.

There was also provision for scholarship to 120 students excelling in English language along with the teacher training programmes.
