Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has informed the Assembly that the Secretariat will be relocated at the chest hospital at any cost as the objective was to eliminate the disconnect between departments and their directorates as they were separated by long distances.

The idea was to bring the departments and directorates to one place for smooth administration which was missing so far. Some departments were located in Secunderabad and officials attended review meetings in Secretariat without carrying files, Mr. Rao said in his reply to the debate on motion of thanks to the Governor’s address in Assembly.

Mr. Rao promised to convene a meeting of MLAs from the city to resolve regularisation of land for middle classes who had constructed houses in excess of 125 sq yds and were required to pay a percentage of market value.

The government received Rs. 133.5 crore from 1.33 lakh applicants in this category as advance and another Rs. 1,000 crore was due from them. There were another 3.36 lakh applicants with houses below 125 sq yds who will be distributed pattas without having to pay any money.

Refuting the claim of MIM floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi that only 76,000 minorities got social security pensions of Rs 1,000 each, he said there were actually 2.43 lakh beneficiaries. The government will announce increase in the wages of anganwadi workers during budget presentation on Wednesday.

He said there was no change in the government stand on reimbursement of tuition fee for local students and said their dues for four years were already cleared. The budget for 2014-15 will be released as early as possible
