‘Centre asked to take up Pranahita’

Member of Parliament K. Kavitha has said that she appealed to the Central government to grant national project status to Pranahita-Chevella irrigation project by submitting a memorandum to Union Minister for Water Resources Uma Bharathi.

Addressing the gathering after inaugurating works related to Mission Kakatiya in Darpally and Sirikonda mandals in the district on Saturday, she said she was making all out efforts to get the danger symbol removed from beedi packs.

She said she has also been working to ensure establishment of turmeric park in the district soon.

Ms. Kavitha said she wanted the Centre to review the works taken up under Mission Kakatiya scheme and extend financial assistance accordingly.

Nizamabad (rural) MLA Bajireddy Govardhan, MLC V.G. Goud and a host of other officials accompanied her.

Later in the evening, she attended the inaugural function of a local cable television network here.
