The Munagala police have filed a case under IPC 304 (a) against the tractor driver, who was involved in Nandamuri Janakiram’s accident.
Speaking to The Hindu , Suryapet DSP Abdul Rasheed, said the tractor belongs to Venkanna of Konaigudem village, but his driver Bandi Srinivas, a native of Mungala, was driving the vehicle at the time of the accident.
However, the DSP said that though the driver was in shock after the incident and was undergoing treatment in a hospital, he was ready to surrender.
He further said that they would arrest him on Monday.
When asked about the speed of Janakiram’s vehicle at the time of the accident, the DSP said the vehicle was going at high speed, but experts from the Road Transport Department are still trying to determine the exact speed of the vehicle.
The Mungala police said that the driver, who was coming from the opposite direction, was carrying paddy seedlings in the tractor trolley.
However, it is learnt that the driver escaped unhurt. “There was very little impact of the collision on the tractor’s engine,” the police said.
The driver fled from the place immediately after the incident. It is also learnt that Janakiram was not wearing a seat belt.
