Flexi banners and posters have sprung up many roads in the town, with local leaders of the ruling TRS and the Opposition Congress party embarking on a publicity campaign to reach out to denizens of the town with an eye on the maiden elections to the Khammam Municipal Corporation likely to be held soon.
The ruling TRS has already launched a massive publicity blitzkrieg by putting up banners and posters at all busy centres across the town as part of vigorous efforts to bag the prestigious civic body.
The local cadre of the ruling party local erected giant cutouts of the party leaders at vantage points along the main thoroughfares, mainly projecting the TRS government’s plan to restore and beautify the historic Lakkaram tank in the town.
Congress aspirants of the corporator posts have put up banners at the main public places prominently highlighting the drinking water augmentation scheme initiated by the previous Congress government. Both the Left parties – CPI and the CPI (M) – have initiated mass contact programmes in the 50 divisions of the corporation, highlighting the series of agitations staged by the Left parties over a plethora of civic issues in the past.
The CPI (M), which held the Municipal Chairperson post previously, is banking on the developmental works initiated in the town during the tenure of the previous elected body.
The local leaders of the YSRCP and the BJP have hit the roads to reach out to residents of the town in anticipation of the release of poll notification for the civic body in a few weeks.
