Call to form green brigades to protect plants

Steps to protect saplings planted in Haritha Haaram

Nirmal district Joint Collector Ch. Shivalingaiah on Thursday asked mandal education officers and mandal parishad development officers to form green brigades in all villages by Friday evening.

He said the brigades will be given the task of protecting every sapling planted under the third phase of Telanganaku Haritha Haram. Mr. Shivalingaiah said green brigades should have students, teachers, NGOs and others as members. They should launch a special drive to protect plants. Talking about the progress of THH-3 in Nirmal district, the Joint Collector He said over 21 lakh saplings have been planted out of a target of 1 crore in Nirmal district. He asked MEOs and MPDOs to ensure that fruit bearing tree species are planted in schools and homesteads.
