Royal Enfield - Bullet.

The new Royal Enfield has become the cynosure of all eyes on the roads of Hanamkonda and there is a craze among the youth for the bike now.

This bike was thought to be a luxury which only feudal lords could afford in the past. And this was the vehicle many in their childhood dreamed of owning after growing up.

Though costly and not fuel-efficient, many youth now want to own one. Speaking to The Hindu , sales manager V. Kiran said that now one has to wait for five months to get a vehicle after booking since there was good demand. On an average, we sell 50 to 60 Bullets in Warangal district, he said.

Associate professor of English, K. Damodar Rao, who also nurtured a dream to own one since his childhood days, is now planning to buy one for his son K. Vinay Kashyap, a software engineer.

The Bullet is neat, balanced and looks great now, he says. The vehicle now costs anywhere between Rs. 1,13,000 and Rs. 2,12,000 depending on the variant and has a speed of 160 km per hour and fuel efficiency of about 45-50 km per litre.

Mr. Kiran says that those who are buying the vehicle do not mind the fuel efficiency. They buy it for a different reason altogether. It is a passion to ride a Bullet and that is all that matters, he explains.

According to him, the vehicle was redesigned to suit modern day needs and now it looks great. The affordability of people is more now as compared to the past. Hence, the demand, he added.

Mr. Amar, who recently bought a Bullet, says he saved the money only to buy a Bullet to fulfil his desire. “I cannot describe my joy in riding the Bullet, he says.
