Activists of the PDSU staged a dharna near the Collectorate here on Friday demanding own buildings for the social welfare hostels, including the self-managed hostels in the town.
Students from various colleges in the town took part in the demonstration held under the aegis of the PDSU division committee.
Addressing the demonstrators, the PDSU division leaders lamented that the self-managed hostels were being operated in crammed rented buildings devoid of basic amenities in the town.
They flayed the alleged inordinate delay in construction of own buildings for the social welfare hostels meant for SC and ST students.
PDSU submits memo
Later, a delegation of the PDSU leaders submitted a memorandum to the officials concerned.
Their demands, include setting up of a women’s hostel attached to the SR&BGNR Government Degree and PG College and allotment of the building adjacent to the Government PG College for social welfare women’s hostel.
