The Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader Brinda Karat said K.Chandrashekhar Rao must be the only Chief Minister who trained the guns of his police on people of his own constituency and called it a "shameful" act.
Addressing a 'maha dharna' organised by the Telangana Bhoonirvasithula Committee here on Tuesday, she condemned the chief minister's attitude as "dictatorial and authoritarian", and demanded compensation to the victims of Mallannasagar lathicharge victims, besides punishment to the responsible police officials.
She accused the Prime Minister Narendra Modi of getting his brief done through the chief ministers of various states, after failing to affect amendments to the Land Acquisition Act, 2013 through parliament.
Calling the obliging Chief Ministers as Mr. Modi's "junior partners" and "captains of backdoor", Ms. Karat said they were serving corporates, land mafia and mining mafia through the backdoor by devising ways to illegally snatch away the lands and livelihood of peasants, rural poor, women, dalits, and adivasis.
Responding to the allegations that it was a conspiracy against development, Ms.Karat asked Mr.Chandrashekhar Rao to change his spectacles so that he can see the reality. Her request to people to crowd fund his spectacles received enormous response, with people vying with each other to donate.
She congratulated women who played "heroic" role in the struggle.
