Boy wins science fellowship

Sixteen-year-old Katla Virul has bagged the prestigious Kishore Vaignanik Protsahan Yojana (KYPY) fellowship and brought laurels to the district.

As part of the fellowship, Virul will get Rs.5,000 a month during his graduation, with an annual grant of Rs.20,000, and during his postgraduation, he will be entitled to Rs.7,000 a month and an annual grant of Rs.28,000.Virul can take part in workshops to be held at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), national science conferences and research projects.

He had succeeded at a written test and interview conducted by the Department of Science & Technology (DST), Government of India, to win the fellowship.
