BJP to distribute CDs of KCR in villages

In 2010, KCR made a strong demand for official celebration of Hyderabad Liberation Day

September 19, 2014 01:20 am | Updated 01:20 am IST - HYDERABAD:

The BJP has said that it will distribute across all the villages of Telangana copies of the compact disc (CD) containing a speech of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao in 2010 wherein he expressed a strong desire in favour of the official celebration of Hyderabad Liberation Day and asked the Congress leaders to pull down the then government for not conceding the demand.

After playing the CD to mediapersons here on Thursday, BJP State president G. Kishan Reddy, party leader in Assembly K. Laxman and others said that the BJP would not give up the demand for the official celebration of Hyderabad Liberation Day until it was met because the issue concerned the self-respect of the people of Telangana.

They asked what had prevented the government from celebrating the event, especially after a forceful demand by Mr. Rao in a speech at a meeting of TRS as its president during the Chief Ministership of K. Rosaiah. “He is answerable for what he said in that meeting.”

They blamed Mr. Rao for not sticking to a single word uttered at the meeting. The celebrations of the event on Wednesday were a maiden affair in Telangana State but they lacked official patronage.
