The marathon debate on demands pertaining to welfare in the Telangana Assembly here on Tuesday ended with members of the Telugu Desam Party and Bharatiya Janata Party walking out expressing their disappointment at not being given firm assurances on the doubts raised by them on several facets of the subject.
The debate, clarifications and reply by the members and Finance Minister Eatala Rajender took well over three hours and at the end of it, BJP floor leader K. Laxman said their hopes of justice to the weaker sections were dashed by the absence of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and walked out with his colleague C. Ramachandra Reddy.
Soon, deputy floor leader of the TDP, Sandra Venkata Veeraiah, spoke his mind out, including what he described as ‘lack of clarity’ on the resolution to be passed in the House and sent it to the Centre over categorisation of the Scheduled Castes into ‘A’, ‘B’, ‘C’ and ‘D’. He walked out with floor leader Errabelli Dayakar Rao and others.
Also, the way Mr. Rajender did not give them anything concrete -- be it over the issue of increasing scholarships and mess charges in view of inflation or any other issues -- was not to their satisfaction, the members said.
