The BJP and Congress on Wednesday slammed the Telangana government for constituting a Commission of Inquiry to study the social, economic and educational status of Muslims in the State stating that the panel will not serve the purpose of extending reservations to the community.
At a press conference here, BJP State president G. Kishan Reddy said the Commission will not stand legal scrutiny as the court had struck down reservations on the basis of religion in the past. Congress leader Mohammed Ali Shabbir said the Commission was an eyewash as it did not have judicial members who were alone competent to consider reservations for Muslims as a backward community.
KCR hits a century!
Meanwhile, the Congress released a list of 101 promises made by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao in his nine-month rule. A huge flexi that ticked only three promises as implemented was displayed by Mr. Shabbir at Gandhi Bhavan.
