Demanding the implementation of Jeevanabhruthi scheme promised by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, a large number of beedi workers staged a dharna before the Collectorate on Monday.

Several workers from Dubbak and Ramayampet registered their protest and submitted a memorandum to the District Revenue Officer, Dayanand, who promised to look into the issue.

Some workers from Jogipet and Andol also staged protest at the Collectorate urging the government not to suspend works under MNREGS. Alleging that some of officials have issued orders halting works as the village was changed to Nagara-Panchyat, they said that stopping MNREGS works would make them jobless. Later they submitted a memorandum to the Collector.
