The official machinery has initiated elaborate arrangements to ensure smooth conduct of the election to the recognised union of the Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) to be held on October 5.

The authorities have drawn up a comprehensive action plan envisaging deployment of adequate polling staff and officials besides police personnel in 92 polling booths in all the 11 regions of the SCCL spread over six districts in the State. As per the action plan, the Revenue Divisional Officers and Tahsildars concerned will be appointed as the coordinating officers and zonal officers of each region respectively.

Senior officials of the Labour Department will oversee the smooth conduct of the elections. More than 750 police personnel are likely to be drafted for the election duty, sources said. Meanwhile, a team of the SCCL officials met Superintendent of Police Ambar Kishor Jha in Kothagudem on Tuesday.

The officials reportedly discussed about the area-wise requirement of police forces to ensure peaceful conduct of the election.
