September 23, 2014 08:04 pm | Updated November 18, 2016 04:01 am IST - HYDERABAD:

The Andhra Pradesh government has issued orders relaxing the upper age limit for direct recruitment from 34 years to 40 years for the ensuring recruitments by the AP Public Service Commission and other recruiting agencies.

The G.O. No.295 issued here on Tuesday said that the upper age limit was relaxed in order to compensate for the shrinking opportunities to the educated unemployed youth in Andhra Pradesh post bifurcation. The opportunities that existed before the bifurcation of combined AP were lost after the bifurcation of the State, it said.

The ad hoc rule raising the upper age limit to 40 years for the purpose of direct recruitment to various categories to be notified from the issuance of the above GO will be valid till September 30, 2016. The age concession over and above the upper age limit would also be allowed to the categories as provided under Rule 12 of the Andhra Pradesh State and Subordinate Service Rules, 1996.

The government is keen on filling vacant posts under various categories in the State and accordingly the recruiting agencies are notifying the vacancies from time to time, the order said.

The relaxation in the upper age limit however will not apply to the posts of uniformed services of the Police, Excise, Fire, Prisons and Forest departments for which physical standards have been prescribed in the State and Subordinate Service Rules or in the relevant special or ad hoc rules.
