Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Friday lashed out at his Andhra Pradesh counterpart N. Chandrababu Naidu for ‘uttering lies’ about honouring power purchase agreements between the erstwhile generation corporation and the distribution companies.

Reeling out statistics after a meeting of the Cabinet, Mr. Rao said the Andhra Pradesh government deprived Telangana to an extent of 82 million units in thermal generation and 282 million units in hydel generation from the Lower Sileru project which was awarded to that State as part of bifurcation.

He said Telangana was deprived of its rightful share in power generation though the Central Electricity Authority, the Andhra Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission and the Southern Load Despatch Centre passed orders to comply with the bifurcation law. But, it was completely violated by Andhra Pradesh.

The Cabinet decided to extend an incentive of Rs. 4 a litre for procurement of milk from producers for the government-owned Vijaya Dairy. It would be in addition to the existing procurement price.

The Cabinet also decided to promote drip and sprinkler irrigation by giving 100 per cent subsidy on purchase of equipment by SC and ST farmers. The subsidy would be 90 per cent for small and marginal farmers and 80 per cent for others.

The government would spend Rs. 300 crore on the programme.

It was decided to sanction Rs. 252 crore for greenhouse cultivation over 1,000 acres near Hyderabad.
