A.P. complains to Krishna river board

November 19, 2014 12:36 am | Updated 12:36 am IST - HYDERABAD:

Andhra Pradesh government has again lodged a complaint with Krishna River Management Board (KRMB) against continuous generation of power from Srisailam hydro electric project by Telangana Government.

The AP government is believed to have sent four- hourly reports of power generation from Srisailam for the last few days to the Board and sought its direction to Telangana government to stop it forthwith. It has also decided to take up the issue at a meeting of the two Chief Secretaries called by the Union Home Secretary on November 28.

Meanwhile, after lull of a few weeks, the Telangana government once again stepped up generation from the power house on the left bank of Srisailam hydro-electric project.

The TSGenco has operated six units of 120 MW during peak hours, and released more than 40,000 cusecs of water downstream by 6 p.m. on Tuesday, informed sources. This is much higher than the outflow of 13,664 cusecs released during the 24 hours before 6 a.m. on Tuesday. On Monday, about 6.474 million units of power was produced at Srisailam. At 6 p.m. on Tuesday, the reservoir’s water level stood at 856.1 feet, and the quantity at 94.91 TMC. Officials attributed the rise in the generation to the increase in the temperatures.
