The world experiences a financial crisis once every 58 months and economists expect one after April, former Deputy Governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Vepa Kamesam said, quoting statistics from the National Bureau of Economics, United States. According to the NBE data, the crisis could end by March 2016.
Addressing a seminar organised at Mahatma Gandhi University here on Tuesday, Dr. Kamesam said governments must start working now to prevent the financial crisis.
He said the current period could be called a pre or post-financial crisis period since a global meltdown was witnessed seven years ago.
The theme of two-day seminar was Global Financial Meltdown: Issues and Challenges . It was sponsored by the Indian Council of Social Science Research and University Grants Commission and co-sponsored by the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development.
