The newly formed Rajanna-Sircilla, which became first district in Telangana State to be declared open defecation free (ODF) a few months ago, has now achieved another milestone by emerging as the first district to complete land records updation project (LRUP).

Land purification work started on September 15 and survey was taken up for cleaning agricultural land records and account for the actual land in cultivation. Taking the directions of Minister for IT and Municipal Administration K Taraka Rama Rao, who also represents the district, the revenue officials completed land purification ahead of the scheduled time and set a record in the State.

The survey work was completed in all the 171 villages falling in 13 mandals and officials identified a total of 1,00,164 survey numbers in which 96,718 numbers were cleared. Of the total land in the district, 4,66,729.22 acres have clear title deeds (97.26 per cent). The agricultural lands of farmers include 2,75,696.06 acres (60.73 per cent), and non-agricultural lands of farmers 18,621.03 acres (4.10 per cent).

The land under the government includes 1,59,625.225 acres (35.16 per cent). Sharing the remarkable achievement with The Hindu on Tuesday, Collector D. Krishna Bhaskar said that “ the milestone could be achieved thanks to the fantastic team of Joint Collector, DRO and Tahsildars”.

He said that they completed 20 per cent of the survey work before entering the village comparing the old pahanies with the new pahanies. After completion of the survey works, they pasted the list of all the land holders in the village panchayat offices with the survey number and land owned etc, to ensure transparency in operations .

He said that the land purification survey had also helped them identify encroached lands, including that of Sri Raja Rajeshwara Swamy Devasthanam in Vemulawada.
