With the State government deciding to hold the Independence Day celebrations here, officials have decided to conduct it in a befitting manner. They are leaving no stone unturned to make it a grand success.

District Collector Kona Sasidhar has been visiting the Police Training College (PTC) stadium here, the venue for the occasion, regularly. The venue is being prepared in such a manner that it facilitates free movement of tableaux and vehicles of VIPs and guard of honour by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.

Barricading work is being taken up on a permanent basis so that the stadium can be used for future programmes.

Curbs on walkers

Meanwhile, walkers have been asked to stop using the stadium as work is going on for the Independence Day celebrations.

Mr. Sasidhar told The Hindu that walkers would not be allowed into the stadium till August 15 and appealed to them cooperate with the administration.
