With likely visit of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao to the district to attend to the famous Komuravelli jatara, the district administration here is making elaborate arrangements.
The jatara at the historic Mallikarjuna Swamy Temple at Komuravelli village in Cheriyal mandal began on December 12 and continues till January 16.
District Collector G. Kishan visited the temple and constituted committees to execute works for the purpose. The temple, whose presiding deities are Mallikarjuna Swamy, Golla Kethamma and Medalamma, is very popular with Kuruma and Yadava communities who come in large numbers from across the State, and also from neighbouring Karanataka and Maharashtra.
Officials of various government departments have been alerted for the purpose.
“All arrangements should complete a day before the jatara begins. Ensure that there will be no complaints from devotees thronging jatara,” the Collector told officials.
At InavoluMeanwhile, the district administration is also engaged in making arrangements for another historic jatara at the Inavolu Mallikarjuna Swamy temple in Inavolu village in Wardhannapet mandal. The Collector said development works costing an estimated Rs.13 crore were being executed for the jatara.
A review meeting was held on Wednesday to discuss arrangements of the jatara, which is to be held from January 14 to 16. About 10 lakh devotees from across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh were expected to take part.
The Collector said about 170 TSRTC buses would be operate to transport devotees to the temple and 200 workers would look after sanitation. A total of 350 police personnel would also be deployed to maintain law and order.
“All developmental works should be complete by January 5,” he instructed the officials.
