Adivasis of Adilabad, Kumram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial and Nirmal districts are enthusiastic about the proposed December 9 public meeting of aboriginal people at Nizam College Grounds in Hyderabad.

In order to help the tribals travel comfortably to the State capital to participate in the protest programme a volunteer force has been raised in each mandal in addition to the tribal youth based in Hyderabad.

Detailed plan

As the organisers of the meeting expect a large turnout of people belonging mostly to the Raj Gond, Kolam, Pardhans, Thotti, Andh, Naikpod tribes, a detailed plan is being put in place.

A sizeable number of volunteers will be deployed from each village to guide the Adivasis towards the venue of the meeting right from their respective village.

The volunteers will wear uniforms and will be present all along the different routes to be taken by the protesters from different parts of the formerly undivided Adilabad district. They will be in constant touch over mobile phone with the drivers of the vehicles.

City guide

When needed, a volunteer will accompany a given group of people to guide their vehicle through routes in the capital city. The volunteers will also guide the drivers to designated parking lots on the day.

The tribals of each village have booked vehicles, including RTC buses, lorries, passenger jeeps and cars. The funds needed for expenses on travel and food have been pooled at village level by respective villagers.
