Adilabad feels the winter chill

October 24, 2014 11:13 pm | Updated May 23, 2016 04:15 pm IST - ADILABAD:

The festival of Deepavali has also heralded winter as minimum temperatures here have dipped below 18 degree Celsius in the hilly areas of Adilabad since October 21. The minimum temperatures in urban places have also dipped below 20 degree Celsius, with Adilabad recording 18 degree Celsius during the period.

The arrival of winter brings good news to farmers who are preparing for the rabi season after a very discouraging kharif. The dew that accompanies dipping minimum temperatures aids cultivation of crops, especially the Bengal gram.

Winter is expected to be severe, at least in the month of December. This is the crucial period for growth of the crop.
