Students, teaching and non-teaching staff of the Women’s College, Kanteswar, here on Monday, took out a rally from their college to the Collector office demanding the authorities ensure severe punishment to the husband of Savitha, a senior Inter student of their college, who was brutally murdered on December 20.

In a memorandum to the Collector D. Ronald Ross the protesters described the act as heinous crime committed by Naresh, husband of Saritha. The accused who was idling away his time allegedly killed her by slitting her throat after tying her legs and hands to the cot.
