The accident prone spot near Gandhinagar village in Ichoda mandal on the NH 44 in Adilabad district has once again hogged limelight as four vehicles met with an accident at the place in the last five days. The spot, which features an unscientific bend in the road, accounts for a majority of all road accidents occuring in the Adilabad stretch of the NH 44.

Vehicles coming from Ichoda mandal head quarters find it difficult to negotiate the bend if the speed is over 50 kmph as the curve is quite sharp. And all the vehicles invariably come speeding as the road preceding the curve runs downhill.

“We have repeatedly appealed to the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to rectify the curve but to no avail. We will be left with no alternative but for staging a protest on the road if the NHAI continues to ignore the issue,” warned K. Praveen Reddy, a former Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituency member from Borigaon of which Gandhinagar is a hamlet.
