To buy veggies, one need not go to a market or struggle to find a parking space leave alone waiting in long queues at the billing counter. It’s now an easy chore as one can order vegetables online, which could only be bought in markets earlier.

Karimnagar is no less than a metro city now as it has a portal (www.maanyamart.com) that sells vegetables, fruits and other food items.

Edalla Vijayalaxmi, a housewife-turned Chief Executive Officer of Maanyamart, says several cities in the country have online vegetable markets.

Though vegetables and fruits are products that customers prefer to see and touch and then buy, the website offers several options.

An online shopper has to chose a vegetable or a fruit, its quantity and either place the order online or call up 8125300500 or 8125500300.

If the shopper does not like the product after being delivered, he/she can return it and get back the money, she said and added that products would be delivered free of cost if the purchases go above Rs. 100. The delivery charge is Rs. 20.

Ms. Vijayalaxmi said that they started the portal a month ago and the business was going good.

“Whatever the customer orders on the portal or by dialling our telephone numbers, we will deliver them instantly,” she said.

My aim is to provide more employment to youth and serve majority of customers in the town, she maintained.

Sharing with The Hindu the perks of running a portal such as this, she said she gets very happy when people from abroad order goodies for their old parents residing in the town using the portal. She mentioned that they were also catering to patients by delivering them medicine, that too with 10 per cent discount.
