Vaikunta Ekadasi festivities begin at Bhadrachalam

Festive fervour has gripped Bhadrachalam, the abode of Lord Sitaramachandra Swamy, with the beginning of ‘Vaikunta Ekadasi Prayukta Adyayanotsavalu’ on Friday.

The presiding deity was adorned in the form of ‘Matsyavataram’ on the inaugural day of the 21-day mega religious fete, which would conclude on January 19.

The temple priests performed special pujas and rituals at the shrine in the morning marking the commencement of the festivities.

A slew of devotional programmes, including a music concert and a mythological play titled Mayabazar , were staged here on the first day.

The main events of the fete include ‘Teppotsavam’ on January 8, 2017, ‘Uttaradwara Darshanam’ on the occasion of ‘Vaikunta (Mukkoti) Ekadasi’ on January 9, ‘Sri Goda Kalyanam’ on January 13, ‘Rathotsavam’ coinciding with Sankranti festival on January 14.

Online booking

The Endowments Department has launched a web portal www.bhadrachalamonline.com to enable devotees book tickets online for ‘Uttaradwara Darshanam’ of the presiding deity on Vaikunta Ekadasi on January 9. Further details on online booking can be had over phone on 08743 232428.
