Tribal girl appears for Intermediate exam hours after the death of father in Kusumanchi of Khammam district on Wednesday,

In an exemplary show of courage, a tribal girl appeared for her Intermediate public examination in Kusumanchi on Wednesday coping with the loss of her father, who died of ill health hours before the examination at their house in Gangabanda Tanda in Kusumanchi mandal.

After returning from the examination centre the grief-stricken girl performed the last rites of her father amid mourning relatives in the tribal hamlet.

Tragedy struck the family of Banoth Subadra, 17, an intermediate student of Kusumanchi-based private junior college, when her ailing father Banoth Ramchandru, a farm labourer, died in the wee hours of Wednesday.

Pall of gloom

A pall of gloom descended on the house of the poor tribal family and relatives of the bereaved family consoled them. On being motivated by her friends and lecturers, Subadra mustered courage and appeared for the Intermediate first year exam at the designated examination centre in Kusumanchi in the face of tragedy. Heart-rending scenes were witnessed when Subadra performed the last rites of her father in an emotionally surcharged atmosphere.
