Irkod embraces cashless transaction mode

Villagers here have no worries about shortage of small denomination currency as almost everyone has been accustomed to making cashless transaction.

Irkod in Siddipet mandal was adopted by Andhra Bank and as many as 1,873 persons of the total of 1,877 opened their bank account.

Here, even auto-rickshaw drivers and saloon shop owners have been using cashless transaction mode for extending their service.

Recently, Irrigation Minister T. Harish Rao and District Collector P. Venkataram Reddy travelled to the village in an auto-rickshaw and paid Rs. 50 using QR card code.

As many as 17 auto-rickshaws were using QR card code in the village. Similarly, a saloon shop has also been extending cashless service. Even women groups were transferring money using mobile applications.

Health Minister C. Laxma Reddy visited the village on Wednesday and enquired with the villagers about their experience in making cashless transactions. In a move to promote cashless transactions, Mr. Harish Rao announced Rs. 10 lakh for various development activities in the village.

He also announced Rs. 5,000 for one Sai Srinivas, a resident of the village, for making as many as 47 cashless transactions.
