Expedite works on roads, Gangula tells officials

Officials asked to clear encroachments without fear; people told to use footpaths

January 03, 2017 12:39 am | Updated 08:05 am IST - KARIMNAGAR:

Karimnagar legislator Gangula Kamalakar has instructed the R&B authorities to take up the final black-topping of the first phase of beautification of R&B roads on the Sircilla and Jagtial roads in Karimnagar town after February 1.

In the meantime, he also directed the Municipal Corporation of Karimnagar (MCK) and electricity authorities to complete their pipeline works and erection of towers, among others, to avoid future problems before the R&B completes the final road works.

At a review meeting here on Monday, the legislator expressed his dissatisfaction over the tardy progress of the 14.5 kilometer R&B roads taken up at a cost of ₹82 crore in the town since last two years. Asking the authorities to remove all encroachments on the roads, he said the authorities should remove even his house if it was obstructing the laying of road.

“We are giving free hand to the officials to take up beautification of the roads in the town and are giving an assurance to get any amount of funds from the government,” he pointed out.

The legislator found fault with the officials for not fixing the LED lights in spite of erection of poles on the medians in some parts of the town leaving the area in darkness. People of the town were facing several problems due to bad roads and delay in the completion of works, he said and hoped that the new MCK commissioner K. Shashanka would solve all the problems in the town.

MCK Commissioner K Shashanka and others were also present.
