Delay in release of funds for Pranahitha-Chevella led to cost escalation, says Mahesh Kumar

Congress leaders on Friday dared the TRS Government to publish a white paper with all the details of the projects it executed in the district after it came to power and challenged for an open debate on its performance anywhere any time.

Addressing a joint press conference, they said that though the people had given hands down victory to the TRS electing all the nine MLAs and two MPs they did a precious little for the development of the district in the last 32 months. Neither the Minister, the MLAs nor MPs did anything better to people, they said.

TPCC general secretary B. Mahesh Kumar Goud said that all the irrigation projects including the younger ones like Ali Sagar and Gutpa were built during the Congress rule. Government Medical College, bypass road, railway line between Peddapally-Nizamabad could be brought only because of the Congress party, he claimed.

“If you have guts to explain your achievements you (TRS leaders) should come for an open debate. This is an open challenge for you. Let us make the people know the commitment and seriousness of both the parties on development and welfare,” said Mr. Mahesh Goud.

The Congress would organise a public meeting called Jana Vedana Sadassu (public grievance meeting), here on Sunday, to understand the problems confronted by people in the wake of demonetisation of high value currency notes and explain its implications in future. Party general secretary Digvijay Singh and a galaxy of the party senior leaders would address it, he said.

Party district unit president Taher Bin Hamdan said that the deliberate delay of sanctioning fund to the Pranahitha-Chevella project Package-20 and 21 led to the escalation of project cost and loss to farming community. Had the Chief Minister made allocations immediately after his coming to power for these packages, they could have been completed by now, he opined.

Member of Legislative Council Akula Lalitha, TPCC general secretary G. Gangadhar, secretary N. Ratnakar and others were present.
