Come 9.30 p.m. on Monday, what is now Maa TV will appear as Star Maa with a new logo, and megastar Chiranjeevi will make his TV debut with Mee lo evaru koteeswarulu , a show that was earlier hosted by actor Nagarjuna.

Making the announcement here on Sunday, Mr. Chiranjeevi said he was excited over his small screen debut. “This sure is stressful work as you do not know what the other person will ask. In movies, I just had directors handing me dialogues to memorise and parrot it, but here it’s a dynamic situation all the time,” he said.

“I wondered why Nag was being replaced and even asked the makers and the actor himself. I was told that ‘face replacements’ were the order of the day. I spoke to Nagarjuna about the offer that I had received from Maa TV and he said it was in tune with the developments,” he added.

For viewers, Maa TV will appear in its new avatar as Star Maa from Monday evening, starting with MEK.

The new logo was unveiled here on Sunday by Mr. Chiranjeevi in the presence of CEO of the South Region for Star India, Kevin Vaz and Business Head of Maa, Alok Jain.

Programming innovation

Mr. Kevin said that keeping in tune with changing aspirations and audience expectations was the key to Star Maa’s long-term success. Programming innovation, content variety and modernising the entire packaging and quality of the channel was a sign of their commitment to Telugu people across the globe.

Mr. Alok Jain said their aim was to make Star Maa more current and relevant than before, to viewers.

“We are crafting a philosophy that respects the spirit of Telugu people across continents and our story-telling develops linkages with the dreams to create an entertainment brand that is consumed by the entire family,” he said.
