Forest Minister Jogu Ramanna on Monday said the State will soon be self sufficient in power generation, given the new power projects in the pipeline. He quoted the example of the 600x2 MW Singareni thermal power plant in Jaipur, Adilabad district, which was recently dedicated to the nation by Prime Minister Narendra Modi when he spoke about the improvement in power generation in Telangana.

Hoisting the tricolour on the 70th Independence Day celebration here, the Minister said Singareni became the first coal producing company to go in for power generation. The effort of Singareni would go a long way in meeting the power demands of the State.

Talking about the prevalence of seasonal diseases, Mr. Ramanna said the administration has taken all measures to keep the spread of diseases under check. Quoting figures, he said 1,755 medical camps were organised wherein 38,200 persons were treated, besides recruiting doctors and other health staff.

The Minister had earlier inspected the ceremonial parade and later saw the cultural programmes, visited stalls set up by different departments, and distributed assets among beneficiaries.
