30 pilgrims injured in Khammam road mishap

Around 30 pilgrims were injured, three of them grievously, when the lorry in which they were travelling, was hit by a sand-laden lorry at Lankasagar crossroads in Penuballi mandal in the small hours of Friday.

Sources said that the incident occurred when over 30 persons including several women and children belonging to Vemsur and its adjoining villages were proceeding to Jan Pahad Dargah in Nalgonda district on a pilgrimage.

The lorry halted at Lankasagar cross roads when a speeding sand-laden lorry rammed the stationary vehicle from behind.

The pilgrims sitting in the rear portion of the vehicle sustained multiple injuries. The injured were taken to a hospital in Sattupallli.

The grievously injured were referred to the district headquarters hospital.
