As part of their stepped up efforts to block the supply chain of medicines and other essential commodities to Maoists, the Charla police have arrested three Maoist militia members and seized medicines allegedly meant to be delivered to the rebels.
Those arrested include 44-ye4ar-old Madakam Seethaiah , 40-year-old Karam Muthaiah and 30-year-old Punem Ganapathi, of Kaliveru village in Charla mandal, police said. A police team apprehended the trio during patrolling at Satyanarayanapuram in the mandal late on Thursday evening and seized medicines from their possession.
The seized material included tablets and injections besides 20 saline bottles, all worth ₹5000.
Producing the arrested trio before the media in Charla on Friday, Charla sub-inspector of police T Satyanarayana said the trio had purchased the medicines in Bhadrachalam and were headed towards Chhattisgarh when they were apprehended at Satyanarayanapuram.
