3 CRPF men injured in Maoist blast in Chattisgarh

Three CRPF men including two Deputy Commandants and a head constable, who sustained grievous pellet injuries in a blast reportedly triggered by Maoists at Marlagudem in neighbouring Chhattisgarh on Friday morning, were provided preliminary treatment in Bhadrachalam Area hospital before being airlifted to Hyderabad in the afternoon.

Sources said that Sukma District-based CRPF’s 217 battalion Deputy Commandants Prabhat Tripati and Shrinivash besides head constable Ranga Raghavan suffered critical injuries while they were guarding road works at Marlagudem in Chhattisgarh, about 20 km from Chintoor of East Godavari District in Andhra Pradesh.

They were flown to Bhadrachalam in Khammam District of Telangana in a chopper and given preliminary treatment at the area hospital in the temple town.

They were subsequently airlifted to Hyderabad for better treatment after their health condition deteriorated, hospital sources said. The temple town police led by Bhadrachalam ASP R. Bhaskaran supervised the provision of medical services to the three injured CRPF men and shifting operation.
